There are two Academic Block buildings - The University has separate buildings to accommodate classrooms - Academic block I, Academic block II and a Fine Arts block to house various Departments.
Hostels - On-campus residential accommodation is provided in the hostels. There are 3 girls’ hostels and 2 boys’ hostels. The two girls’ hostels accommodate research scholars and the third one accommodates UG and PG students. One of the Boys’ hostels accommodates research scholars and the other UG and PG students. There is a working women’s hostel to accommodate teaching and non-teaching staff.
There is a Faculty Guest House with well-furnished VIP rooms, suit rooms, kitchen, utility room and a lounge with sufficient facilities for the visiting Faculty and other university guests
The University Health Centre with part time doctors (both Allopathy and Ayurveda), one nurse and one nursing assistant, provide the primary health care needs of the university community.
There is a common University Auditorium named ‘Kanakadhara’ covering an area of 800 sq. meters in which oil paintings depicting the major episodes in the life history of Sree Sankaracharya are exhibited. Another auditorium is also available for including general public.
The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Central Library has been functioning in the main campus at Kalady, since the inception of the University. The Central Library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents that is useful for the faculty, students and research scholars in their educational and research activities in the University.
ETD (Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Lab) The Shodhganga @INFLIBNET Centre provides a platform for research students to deposit their Ph.D. theses and make it available to the entire scholarly community in open access. The repository has the ability to capture, index, store, disseminate and preserve ETDs submitted by the researchers. SSUS Library also ensures effective functioning of ETD lab with the financial assistance of UGC.

The University was established two decades ago in the name of the illustrious Indian philosopher Jagad Guru Adi Sankara in his place of birth at Kalady. The basic objective of the University is to impart knowledge in various branches of Sanskrit, Indology, Indian culture, Indian and Foreign languages, Indian philosophy, Fine Arts and Social Sciences and to promote the study and research in Sanskrit and other systems of Indian knowledge.
