Vice Chancellor's Message

Welcome to the website of the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit.

Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit was established in the year 1993 through an Ordinance (11 of 1993) issued by the Governor of Kerala which was later replaced by an Act (Act 5 of 1994) of the Kerala State Legislature. The University, named after the illustrious philosopher of all times Jagaduru Sree Adi Sankaracharya, finds its abode on the banks of the  River Poorna in a small village called Kalady, the birth place of the Jagadguru. The University has been incorporated for the promotion and development of the study of Sanskrit, Indology, Indian Philosophy and other Indian languages.

Catering to the students from the socio-economic backward communities and regions, we consider that one’s self can be liberated only by acquiring knowledge and our motto is ज्ञानादेव तु कैवल्यम् (Sanskrit) meaning Liberation only through knowledge.  Of all that shines bright if knowledge is the most luminous and the University – a light house of knowledge, has been a leading light to all the students who throng to it.  In the University, each student is a priority and not on option.  Students are trained to thrive and prosper in life through a series of interactions with the faculties from within and without.  Every one is a teacher and student.  Eminent personalities and scholars are invited to have face to face discussions with the students, research scholars and teachers, thus sharing of ideas takes place.

The new website of the University aims at quick and effective sharing of information at a click. All information that is to be published suo-moto under the Right to Information Act, 2005 is published on the website.  One can find the services that are brought under the Right to Service Act, 2012 also.  The easy-to-navigate home page has provided links to various upcoming events like seminars, workshops, erudite lectures, notifications for admission and examination etc. under the various heads.

The first phase of computerization of the examination branch has almost completed. The computerization of the administration, the academic and finance branches will be completed in the next phase. And thus the University will absolutely become a paperless University and it will enable students to enroll themselves in the various programmes of the University and after completing the programmes successfully can leave the University with their credentials through the website, without even once coming to the administrative office.  We now aim to achieve this goal.

I earnestly believe that the website and the information contained therein will immensely help the students.  Dear students, let us walk together, confer together, let our minds be one in receiving knowledge as gods of yore and let us strive together…..

I express my sincere gratitude to the staff and the students of the University for the valuable and appreciable effort rendered by them in making the NAAC Accreditation process in our University a grand success.
Now the NAAC Peer Team has successfully completed their visit and evaluated our facilities and documents. We are expecting good news from the NAAC very shortly.
I place on record my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Members of the Syndicate, the Academic Council, the Board of Studies, the Deans, the Statutory officers, the Campus Directors, the Head of the Departments, the teachers, the non-teaching staff, the students, the PTA, the Alumni, the members of the Criteria level committees, the Editorial board and my colleagues from top to bottom who had offered their best effort in the preparation of our Self Study Report (SSR) and Supplementary SSR.  I also extend gratitude to the members of various committees constituted for Reception, Accommodation, Hospitality, Finance, Conveyance, Cultural programmes, Infrastructure and documentation in connection with NAAC Peer Team visit.
I would also appreciate the sincere effort taken by Dr. Francis A.P., NAAC Co-ordinator, the members of the NAAC Cell and the technical staff for making the venture a grand success.
Since the NAAC accreditation process is a continuous evaluation, I take this opportunity to invite the attention of all the Heads of the Departments, the Campus Directors, the Teaching and the Non-Teaching Staff and the Students to keep the tempo alive and to maintain all the documents and records of events in their respective offices and to forward the copies of such documents and records to the office of the IQAC and Publication Officer for enabling our Re-accreditation process in future.

Dr.M.C.Dileep Kumar, before assigning the prestigious job was the Head PG Department of Commerce and Research Centre at Cochin College, Kochi and Research Guide at Mahatma Gandhi University and Bharathiyar University.  More than 30 years long meritorious career in the field of education has earned him a special place in the sector. Many books have been penned by him and he could present research papers in many National and International Seminars, in addition to many articles published in the periodicals and magazines.  Above all, the contribution given to the activities of NSS is commendable and he was honoured by the State Government as the Best Programme Officer of NSS.  He could also imprint his signature as a Syndicate member of MG University, Kottayam, State Advisory Committee member of NSS, State President of Kerala Commerce Association, State Co-ordinator of Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle etc. to highlight a few.  He has also extended his service as Senate Member and Postgraduate Board of Studies member in M.G. University.  As State President of Kerala Private College Teachers Association he has gained wide recognition among the teachers.
He is the youngest son of Sri.P.K.Chandrasekharan Nair and Smt.M.G.Gowrikutty Amma and settled with family at Kakkanadu, Kochi.
