Sree Sankaracharya University started its Degree course in Dance in 1995. The course has a dedicated and hard working staff well qualified as per university norms. It is in this University that a dance course was started for the first time at degree level.

The course started in the year 1995 with two years foundation course equivalent to Pre-degree. In 1997 B.A. Degree Course with triple main - Sanskrit, Music and Violin/Mridangam was introduced.

The Department of Social Work is established in 1995 and belongs to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The post graduate programme offered by the Department (MSW) is recognised by the social work accreditation councils of UK, USA, Australia, Canada.

Department of Philosophy, since its inception in 1998, through organizing several seminars, conferences, extension services etc. could establish itself as a centre of excellence of learning and research in Philosophy.
