Department of Painting

About the Department

The Department of Painting was established in 1995 and belongs to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The students were admitted to the four-year BFA course after the completion of their foundation course in three main systems, in which the students study Painting as the major subject and Graphics as an interdisciplinary subject. On completion of four years of study, the students are awarded the BFA degree in the concerned specialisation. The four-year studies include studies in any one of the interdisciplinary subjects — Graphics, Sculpture and Darusilpa.

The current four-year BFA course was introduced in 2002. There are 39 students admitted every year for BFA. After successful completion of one year of common studies, they are admitted for continuation of studies in a specialisation either in Painting or Mural Painting or Sculpture.
