Department of Philosophy
About the Department
Philosophy as a discipline has existed in this university since 1994 as part of the BA triple main programme. But as a department, it came into being in the year 1997 with the introduction of the M.A. Philosophy Programme. The Department started offering M.Phil and Ph.D programmes since 2002. Being a Sanskrit University, which gives predominant consideration to humanities subjects, almost all the major departments in it require referring to philosophical theories as part of their research works. The Philosophy Department therefore functions as a platform for dissemination of interdisciplinary knowledge.
