Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady launched postgraduate courses in comparative literature in the year 2003 that are interdisciplinary in spirit and composition. The Centre of comparative literature comes under the Faculty of Indian languages. The centre mainly focuses on the Comparative Indian Literature and it tries to highlight Indian and Western literatures and its cultures in the era of Globalization. The objective of the Centre is to inculcate inter -disciplinary attitude to inspire the student community with the spirit of inclusiveness. The centre offers a two year MA programme in Comparative Literature and Linguistics and is also a research centre which focuses on various aspects of literary and cultural studies. Some of the thrust areas of research that can be undertaken in the centre include Modern Indian Literatures, Comparative Literary Studies,Studies of Indian Languages, Translation Studies and Cultural Studies.
