Commenced in 1997, the Centre for Vedic Studies aims at the promotion and preservation of traditional knowledge. The centre accounts to an interdisciplinary nature and conducts studies comprising Vedic Studies, other Sanskrit studies as well as Social Sciences. The Centre has successfully completed the research project of the audio / video documentation of the Kerala style chanting of Jaiminiya Samaveda. Since there are only three scholars alive in Kerala who could chant this, the Centre took upon itself the task of recording the Keraliya Jaiminiya Samaveda chanting before its extinction. Presently the Centre offers M.A. program in Vedic Studies. The Centre also organizes many short-term courses, public lectures, national seminars as well as workshops for the benefit of students.

The Centre for Comparative Literature was established with the goal to promote interdisciplinary research among different Departments / Centres of the University. The Departments of Sanskrit, Malayalam, English and Hindi cooperate in the research programmes of the Centre and the faculty members from these Departments function as research guides to the Centre.

Set on foot by the year 2003, the Centre for Translation Studies belongs to the Faculty of Indian Languages. The Head of the Department of Hindi serves as the coordinator of the centre, where the faculty members from the departments like Sanskrit, Hindi, Malayalam and English conduct the course works. The aim of the Centre for Translation Studies is to propagate, popularize and promote research studies in translation. The centre is interdisciplinary in nature and admits students from various streams like Sanskrit, Hindi, Malayalam as well as English, hence offers regular M. Phil and Ph. D under its name. The Centre focuses on promoting interdisciplinary research activities in Translation Studies and hence produces research papers for the same.

The Centre for Manuscriptology engages in the survey, collection, conservation and the preservation of manuscripts by transcribing, digitalizing and publishing them. The Centre also organizes workshops, seminars, extension lectures as well as awareness classes on preservation techniques to the students and the public, especially to the Custodians of manuscripts. Besides the regular academic courses, the centre also offers M.Phil. as well as PhD programmes.

The Centre for Intangible Heritage Studies (C-IHS) is the first academic centre in India on the nascent subject of Intangible Heritage (IH), which is important in getting World Heritage status to cultural forms. The C-IHS owes its origin with the organisation of the 2015 National Intangible Heritage Festival organised at the SSUS Kalady by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, (Government of India) in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrhalaya (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) which resulted in a Kalady charter on IH. It also took into consideration from the fact that the SSUS is the University in India to have teaching resources of two out of the thirteen UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) so far selected from India: Kudiyattam and Vedic chanting. The vision of the C-IHS is to establish an academic institution of national and international repute on the subject of heritage in general and intangible heritage in particular relevant to Indian context.
