DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT GENERAL
Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit started a Centre for Sanskrit General Studies in 2005 with an Undergraduate programme at the Main Centre, Kalady under the Faculty of Sanskrit Language and Literature. In 2010, it was designated as Department for Sanskrit General with a Post Graduate Programme followed by an Integrated MPhil and PhD programme in 2013. It also offers an undergraduate as well as a postgraduate programme at its Regional centre, Koyilandy since 2013.
Students are given exposure to traditional as well as modern literatures through regular lectures and extension programmes. The effective guidance from the faculty members enables them to understand the culture and tradition mainly with the source of literature. Emphasis is given on inter-disciplinary and multidisciplinary topics while designing the syllabus for various programmes. The unique syllabi of the programme ensure that it caters to the students’ area of interest for further specialisation. The department focuses on research by offering full time and part time doctoral programme in Sanskrit General.
