DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS
The Department of Physical Education was established in 2004 and functions under the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Education. Since its inception, the department has played a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all sports activities at the university, contributing to the promotion of physical education and sports on campus.
In 2012, the department reached a new milestone by introducing the Ph.D. program, offering opportunities for advanced research and academic growth in the field of physical education. The introduction of this doctoral program has allowed scholars to delve deeper into various aspects of sports sciences, physical education, and related disciplines.
Building on the success of its research initiatives, the department launched the Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) program in 2013. This two-year postgraduate program was designed to provide students with specialized knowledge and training in physical education, preparing them for leadership roles in academia, coaching, and sports administration.
In 2021, the department introduced a significant change in its academic offerings by transforming the M.P.Ed. program into the Master of Physical Education and Sports (M.P.E.S.) program. This change was implemented to align the curriculum with evolving trends in the field, integrating broader aspects of sports sciences, training methodologies, and physical education management. The new M.P.E.S. course aims to equip students with a more comprehensive understanding of both physical education and sports, catering to the growing demands of the sports industry and education sector.
Overall, the Department of Physical Education continues to contribute to the university's academic and sports culture, fostering an environment that promotes excellence in sports education, research, and physical training.
