Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady launched postgraduate courses in comparative literature in the year 2003 that are interdisciplinary in spirit and composition. The Centre of comparative literature comes under the Faculty of Indian languages. The centre mainly focuses on the Comparative Indian Literature and it tries to highlight Indian and Western literatures and its cultures in the era of Globalization. The objective of the Centre is to inculcate inter -disciplinary attitude to inspire the student community with the spirit of inclusiveness
The learning of different literatures cutting across national and cultural boundaries in the broad  humanistic context which in turn facilitates to understand and experience the essential unity of human nature and consciousness in its manifold manifestations and to develop critical thinking across linguistic and cultural context
