BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS (B.F.A)

The students were admitted to four year BFA course after the completion of their foundation course in three main system; in which the students will study Painting as major subject and Graphics as inter disciplinary. On the completion of four year studies, the students were awarded BFA degree on concerned specialization. The four year studies included studies in any one of Inter- disciplinary subjects- Graphics, Sculpture and Darusilpa. Current four year BFA course was introduced in 2002. There are 20 students admitted in every year for BFA. After successful completion of one year common studies they will be admitted for continuation of studies in specialization either in Painting or Mural Painting.

The course offered by this department is unique in the studies, as Sanskrit Language is unavoidable. It begins with the studies of Devanagari alphabets leading to learning of Sanskrit texts relevant to the studies on Art, which offers all a new outlook. The theoretical studies on art have two extensive wings - History of art and Aesthetics. The studies in History of Art provides necessary knowledge of art practices from old stone age to present day as well as the studies on aesthetics lead the student to develop ideological bearings to produce art which holds social commitment. Generally the students are provided necessary ideological backing to see art as a visual language acceptable to global sensibilities.

HOW TO APPLY

Candidate seeking admission for BA, BFA programme shall submit the application through online in the University Websites ssus.ac.in or ssusonline.org on or before the last date prescribed. The print copy of the online application shall be sent to the Heads of the Departments/ Campus Director of regional Centres/Main Centre along with the copy of documents and original Fee receipt. Application Fee shall be remitted in the University account through Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit pay in slip (which can be download from the University Website) at all branches of Union Bank of India. The Fee can also be remitted through Demand Draft drawn in favour of Finance Officer Sree Sankaracharya University of Kalady payable at Union Bank of India, Kalady branch. For BFA courses there will be an aptitude test for admission.
