B.A SANSKRIT GENERAL

The department of Sanskrit General is established in 2005 and belongs to the faculty of Sanskrit Literature and is robust in extending the reach of Sanskrit teaching. This centre will soon become a full fledged department. It will provide quality research opportunities to M A students interested in pursuing academics. The department will also continue programmes utilising expertise from outside for UGC –JRF- NET coaching. Regular seminars, workshops and lectures by inviting eminent persons in the field will be conducted. Faculty and students will Endeavour to contribute research articles in peer reviewed journals. Attempts for collaborating with other departments in the university and institutions outside will be seriously made.

Sanskrit is a historical Indo-Aryan language, the primaryliturgical language of Hinduism and a literary and scholarly language in Jainism and Buddhism. Today, it is listed as one of the 22 scheduled languages of India and is an official language of the state of Uttarakhand. Sanskrit holds a prominent position in Indo-European studies. Bachelor of Art in Sanskrit is an undergraduate Sanskrit Course. It Concerns with the field of arts and covers the areas regarding Sanskrit literature: Society, poetry, pose, drama,novels,grammar,etc. B.A is generally three academic degree course. Time duration may be different from language language. It may be provided in part time basis by certain institutes.B.A.(Honours)Sanskrit - Stands for Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sanskrit. Typically, a B.A.Sanskrit(Honours) is a three year course, minimum eligibility for which is an intermediate (10+2).Honours refers to specialization of one's UG degree. Sanskrit is an Indo-Aryan language and the main liturgical language of Buddhism and Hinduism. Subjects typically studied under this degree are Poetry, Drama, Fiction, Literary Criticism, Literary History etc.

HOW TO APPLY

Candidate seeking admission for BA, BFA programme shall submit the application through online in the University Websites ssus.ac.in or ssusonline.org on or before the last date prescribed. The print copy of the online application shall be sent to the Heads of the Departments/ Campus Director of regional Centres/Main Centre along with the copy of documents and original Fee receipt. Application Fee shall be remitted in the University account through Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit pay in slip (which can be download from the University Website) at all branches of Union Bank of India. The Fee can also be remitted through Demand Draft drawn in favour of Finance Officer Sree Sankaracharya University of Kalady payable at Union Bank of India, Kalady branch. For BFA courses there will be an aptitude test for admission.
